Pilgrims

Hebrews 11:8-16 has been speaking to me this morning.
Abe sets out not knowing where he was going.
go to a land that I will show you.
So he sets out in faith trusting the one who called him.
All those saints died without receiving what they had been promised.
Pilgrims in the land.
Strangers in unfamiliar territory.
Comfort was as foreign as the soil on their feet.
It wasn't meant for them.
How often did they want to give up?
Despair,
depression
peace
joy
hope
these were feelings that were familiar to them.
Often lonely but never alone.
Their eyes were set on home and their hands clung tightly to the one who knew the way.

And because of all this God was not ashamed to be their God.
